Description:

As I sit here writing this, there's a drone coming out of my speakers and I'm humming pitches over it.

I don't count this as real practicing—think of it as my version of listening to music while working.

I also do this, quite often, while driving.

I find it calming and stimulating. It constantly engages my musical ear.

Importantly, I'm completely aware of what scale degree I'm singing.

I don't have perfect pitch, but I know when I'm singing the '5' of the scale, for example, because it has a very specific and unique quality and feel to it.

Same with every other pitch in relation to the drone.

I definitely could not recognize those relative tone characteristics before.

Now, because I practice the drone singing often, I can hear that same '5' quality when it comes up in music, in melodies, in guitar solos, etc...

Combine that with knowing a single, moveable scale structure on the fretboard, and then visualizing where those pitches are within that scale structure, and BOOM, you have the premise of Melodic Ear Training for Guitarists.

And believe me, even if you find the course work extremely challenging (like I did)... It. Does. Wonders.

Melodic Ear Training for Guitarists was one of the first courses I made.

I made it even before starting my YouTube channel.

You can tell that the production quality isn't on the same level as my more recent videos.

On top of that, my singing voice is pretty rough and untrained. You probably won't be asking me to sing to you to sleep any time soon.

But don't let those things get in the way of seeing just how insanely powerful the actual method and exercises inside the ear training course can be. They changed everything for me.

I have plans to improve the course in the future—to rework it from the ground up, really—and those who are in the program will get all those upgrades for free.

In the meantime, the method and exercises outlined in the current version of the course are totally sound and very impactful.

I hope you'll benefit immensely from them, even if you just dabble in a few of the drills.
