💬 Lesson Description

In this lesson, I show you how you can write a song from scratch using the I, IV, and V chords - the three major chords in a major key.

Writing melodies for a song with simple harmony is a fun exercise.

In the lesson, I go through three steps:

  1. Create a song form

  2. Write chord progressions for each section

  3. Write melodies for each section

You’ll get to see how just three chords can be arranged for different emotional effects, and you’ll pick up some melody-writing techniques you can apply to your own compositions.

By the end, we’ll have a full song harmonically and melodically.

I hope you enjoy the lesson and find it beneficial!

- Jared
