💬 Lesson Description

This is the first video in a new series that I'm starting called "Make it a Chord Melody."

We're going to turn a bunch of tunes into guitar chord melodies, and we're going to talk about improvising with them too.

In this video, I create an Autumn Leaves guitar chord melody.

Defined simply, a chord melody is when every instance of a melody is supported by some sort of chord shape.

In the video, I go through a process that I’ve formulated over many years for playing melodies with chords at the same time.

It's an amazing sound.

Creating chord melodies is a fantastic fretboard knowledge study, whether we just want to play chord melodies, create fuller solo guitar arrangements, or if we want to hear the harmony of a melody in the

same way that piano players get to do.

The process of creating a guitar chord melody helps me deeply internalize a tune and its harmony so I really feel the music.

It’s an extremely valuable practice to dig into, no matter what kind of music we’re making.

I hope you enjoyed this lesson about my Autumn Leaves guitar chord melody and found it beneficial. Let me know what you thought in the comments.

Thanks! :)

- Jared
