Instead of rushing one of them out for you this week, I decided to post my “Jazz Guitar Comping Seminar” that I usually only share privately on my website.

Today’s video is part 1 of this 2-part jazz guitar comping series.

In this short lesson, I demonstrate comping along the top four strings over a famous jazz standard while connecting between chords with perfect voice leading.

In this context, voice leading means moving to the closest possible chord shape every time a chord changes in the progression—which sounds beautiful!

I’ll post part 2 next week, which breaks down the exact jazz guitar comping baby steps it takes to get to the end result.
