This is part 2 of my jazz guitar comping workshop where I breakdown how to comp with perfect voice leading.

In jazz guitar comping, voicing leading is the practice of moving each individual note of a chord the shortest distance possible when the harmony changes.

But you don’t have to think about each individual note, you can just move to the closest possible voicing of the next chord.

To do this requires knowing a lot of voicings—which, of course, requires drilling.

In this video, I show you the exact baby steps it takes to go from knowing nothing about this to comping with perfect voice leading.

You don’t have to master this to benefit a great deal from understanding this process or some of the theory behind it.

Even if you gain just one new connection or voicing from this lesson, that’s a huge win.

If nothing else, this approach is an amazing way to map out the fretboard with more clarity.
