In this video, I have several contrary motion guitar exercises for you, all using the G major scale.

In musical composition, contrary motion means that two melodies are happening at the same time and moving in opposite directions.

This is a particularly challenging thing to do on the guitar, but the contrary motion exercises I’ve created for you are simple and enjoyable.

These exercises, and contrary motion guitar playing in general, will benefit your technique, coordination, solo guitar sensibilities, and—as you’ll see in the lesson—they’ll open up your ears to hearing multiple parts at once.

Thanks for watching! Feel free to leave a comment below the video on YouTube to say hi. :)
Cheers,
~ Jared
